Crown Bevcan France Receives “France Relance” Award for Apprenticeship Program
We are proud to share that our Custines beverage plant was recently presented with the "One Young Person, One Solution" Award as part of "France Relance," the economic recovery plan launched by the French government in 2020. The plan is just one of several measures put in place by the government to support local companies in the wake of the global COVID-19 health crisis.
The “One Young Person, One Solution” award recognizes our plant’s apprenticeship program created with the goal of integrating and employing young people in the field of mechanics. As part of the program – also initiated as a response to recruitment challenges and staff shortages for qualified individuals in this field in France – ten apprentices have been invited to be part of our production department and train in mechanics, hydraulics and machine operation.
The ten recruits, ranging in age between 18 and 28, began their yearlong journey with us in September 2021. Time is split between classroom style learning and hands-on experience on the plant floor, where they work shifts alongside our full-time employees and set to run until August 2022, the initial idea of the program is to train our own future engineers, anticipate and invest in the future.
Our apprenticeship program is a valuable way to promote the industry and the advantages of choosing a career in manufacturing. We see it as a great way to encourage young people to come train in specific professions in our industry, make them part of our culture, which, in turn, will lead to increased overall performance in our teams. As a Company, we constantly dedicate time and resources for the development of new talents that will equip them not only with valuable skills but also with confidence in what they are bringing to the table. We see this as essential for the sustainability of our plants.
This award is a recognition for our proactive efforts to demonstrate the value and reward that young people can gain from pursuing a career in manufacturing. Custines was one of the 30 French plants awarded for initiatives that support the French economy, and we have high hopes that the program will continue in the years ahead and serve as a pipeline for future talented engineers to join our ranks.
