Crown Enhances Brands with Advanced Aerosol Technologies and Services
Showcases packaging and finishing solutions at International Aerosol Congress
Philadelphia, PA – September 05, 2013. With sustainability and innovation continuing to be of key importance to the industry, experts from CROWN Aerosols and Speciality Packaging Europe, a business unit of Crown Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CCK) (Crown) (www.crowncork.com), will be meeting with key industry players at the 28th FEA International Aerosol Congress and 17th Exhibition (September 24-26, Madrid, Spain; Booth 281 & 283) to present the company’s advanced solutions, global support capabilities and commitment to the environment.
Among the highlights will be a showcase of Crown’s expertise and knowledge in the industry. As a global player with locations around the world and advanced research & development (R&D) facilities, Crown continuously strives to design new, but enduring packaging applications that meet the consumer’s needs. The presentation includes the success story of the BICAN® aerosol technology that was introduced by Crown more than 25 years ago and that remains a state-of-the-art technology today. BICAN® incorporates a plastic inner bag to keep product and propellant completely separate. This separation prevents the contents from coming into contact with the package itself, while also eliminating the possibility of the product drying or hardening, increasing its life span and effectiveness. Featuring an ergonomic design and 360o operation, this convenient solution enables the product to be dispensed cleanly and easily, with no shaking required. BICAN® technology has no restrictions when it comes to valve choice. Brand owners can also opt to fill containers through the valve or directly into the bag for added flexibility.
“Crown was the first to bring the BICAN® solution to market more than a quarter century ago, when it was traditionally used to dispense shaving gels,” stated Veronique Curulla, Marketing Director, CROWN Aerosols and Speciality Packaging Europe. “Today, BICAN® is seeing an even wider appeal as brand owners increasingly look for technologies that enable them to dispense new liquid and viscous products in aerosol cans, particularly for the skin care markets. The technology is an ideal format for these applications.”
International Aerosol Congress visitors will have the opportunity to discover Crown’s extensive range of aerosol technologies designed to differentiate brands and engage shoppers in stores, including high-impact decoration, uniquely shaped packaging, slimline cans offering enhanced ergonomics and tactile finishes that encourage consumer interaction. As the number one producer of tinplate aerosol cans in the world, Crown currently operates 11 aerosol plants globally and draws from its extensive industry experience to support brands throughout the entire packaging process. Crown offers technical support, package design and graphics assistance, as well as inventory management services to maximize efficiencies and streamline costs.
Awareness for the recyclability of steel aerosol containers continues to grow. As a sustainable packaging format, steel is 100% recyclable, recycled at high levels and can be continuously reused with absolutely no loss in performance or quality. A package made of recycled steel saves almost twice its weight in CO2. Steel recycling also saves up to 74% of the energy required for primary production, with each ton of recycled steel saving 1.5 tons of iron ore and 0.5 tons of coal. Today, recycling steel packaging has never been easier, thanks to an established infrastructure.
