Aegir adopted Crown’s 360 End®, the world’s first full aperture end for two-piece beverage cans. The entire lid of the can is removable, enabling it to be used as a drinking vessel. This feature also engages the consumer’s sense with the full aroma of the beer, a particularly important benefit when enjoying craft beers.
The cans feature a series of striking designs, which were created by the brewer in partnership with Crown’s European Design Studio and capture Aegir’s Viking heritage.
William Boyd, MPMA director and chief executive, said: “Crown is a worthy winner of MPMA’s prestigious ‘Best in Metal’ award. There is a strong resurgence of craft beers in which cans are playing an important role as breweries recognize the many attributes of metal. We are delighted that our 2016 ‘Best in Metal’ winner reflects that interest and congratulate both Crown and Aegir on their awards successes in this and other award competitions this year.”
