Crown Launches Production of Seated End Tins in Europe, Providing European Brands With Local Support
Philadelphia, PA – December 14, 2012. CROWN Speciality Packaging Europe, a business unit of Crown Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CCK) (Crown) is now producing seated end tins in Europe, offering premium brands in the region reduced lead times and enhanced supply chain reliability for their packaging. Production of the tin in Europe also provides quick and easy access to local Crown expertise, experience and customer service. The format, which gives packaging a crisp, clean premium look, is ideal for whiskeys, wines, spirits, cigars, biscuits, confectionery and other luxury and limited-edition products. Crown will showcase its seated end packaging for the first time at the ProSweets exhibition in Cologne, Germany, January 27 to 30, 2013.
Crown’s unique and distinctive technology for the seated end tin was designed in house, with custom tooling and machines developed for the manufacturing process. Seated end means the tin’s bottom curl is inverted so that when the packaging is placed on a flat surface, the curl is hidden from view. Crown’s own solution provides a stronger and more robust tin with pure lines. In many cases, consumers choose to reuse the package, meaning that key brand messaging continues to be conveyed long after the initial product has been used up.
“New packaging such as the seated end tin enables brands to gain a visual edge, grabbing the consumer’s eye and boosting sales,” said Véronique Curulla, European Marketing Manager, CROWN Speciality Packaging Europe. “Crown has developed this innovative new seated end technology in Europe to offer brand owners a greater choice of distinctive and novel metal packaging formats, helping them differentiate their products at the key point of sale and express their brand’s identity.”
Crown’s seated end technology can initially be applied to tins of 100 x 100 mm format with a variety of heights according to the customer’s needs. CROWN Speciality Packaging Europe will be launching additional sizes and shapes in the near future. Crown’s expert in-house design team can support customers in developing packaging designs with the ideal finish and highest quality printing and color control to highlight brand messaging and further enhance the product’s impact on the store shelf.
In addition to the seated end tin, CROWN Speciality Packaging Europe will be highlighting its design capabilities at the ProSweets 2013 exhibition. One of the company’s designers will be on hand to explain to visitors the multifaceted design and conceptualization process at Crown, which includes expert design guidance at production sites as well as innovation and development of new products at Crown’s Innovation Center in Wantage.
